Hola todos! I know it has been a while since I last posted, but I will fill you in on what you missed. First, if you are wondering how long I have been here, the answer is 4 months as of December 21st. Around this time in November, my studnets were finishing their last weeks of vacation activities. I, personally, was preparing for my first holiday season outside of the US. For Thanksgiving, I was invited to the home of 2 North American missionaries for a lovely dinner with other volunteers and non-profit workers. We actually had turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie! Not only did I have 1 Thanksgiving meal, I had 2. My second Thanksgiving meal-my Honduran Thanksgiving-was not as authentic, but still very heart-warming.

The Walmart Blue Santa Claus with our students!

Me and Lars, one of my MCC supervisors, at the senior graduation.

At school, the following weeks were filled with visits from organizations giving away clothes, food, and toys. From local churches to Walmart, different groups came to school to celebrate Christmas with our students. It was amazing to see how the students were blessed by these generous organzations. In addition to the Christmas visits we also celebrated the graduation of kindergarden, 9th grade, the high school seniors, and college students finishing certifications. We had 2 graduations, one the was western themed and another that was formal. All teachers, including me, came to both ceremonies.

Finally, to officially close the school year, the AFE school had their end of the year Christmas party. Each grade level performed a Christmas dance for the rest of the school. After, the performances, all students received brand new outfits for Christmas and a special lunch of fried chicken, french fries and potato salad. Once all the students finshed lunch, they went home with their families for Christmas break.
